Pictured above is the entrance to the giant glass house. The photo at the bottom of the page is of Pwll Yr Ardd lake, one of seven in the gardens.
To the side of this lake is the Welsh Water Discovery Centre which give children the opportunity to go pond dipping, whilst the parents can rest at the lakeside and watch ducks, or the dragonflies skimming over the water.
There are events all through the year. for details ring 01558 667165
Boasting the largest span glasshouse in the world, the recently opened 568 acre gardens in beautiful settings are worth a visit for plant enthusiasts.
We came here the first week of opening in May 2000 and enjoyed the visit, especially as we got in for free!! Most of the plants then were just planted and there was a lot of work still to be done.
The glass house is fantastic with plants from Australia and California and from all over the world thriving in their artificial enviroment.
There are lakeside walks, beautiful walled gardens, and ponds, and a reconstructed Japanese garden.
There are shops, restaurant for a cooked meal, cafe in the glass house if you just need a snack, and excellent facilities for the disabled especially the free transport around the estate.
I have recently been informed by a visitor to my site that there is now a kiddies play area and children's zoo at the gardens. (Thank you Liz )
