     Ceredigion Beaches

Every beach managed by the Ceredigion County Council provides areas where you can enjoy the company of your pet dog. You must, however, exercise control over your pet and ensure it does not stray from the designated areas.
There are only two public beaches on Ceredigion's coastline where pet dogs are completely banned during certain times of year, those involve two beaches managed by the National Trust at Penbryn and Mwnt.

No prohibitions apply to guide dogs for the blind.

Prohibitions, alongside areas where dogs are allowed, apply to the beaches listed below between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.  ABERAERON: Dogs are prohibited on the South Beach between the first groyne to south of Beach Parade and the Harbour Walls between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.  ABERPORTH: Dogs are prohibited from Dolwen Beach between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.  ABERYSTWYTH - South Beach:  Dogs are prohibited from Aberystwyth's South Beach between Castle Headland (northern limit) and the first groyne at the end of South Marine Terrace (southern limit) between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.   ABERYSTWYTH - North Beach:  Dogs are prohibited from Aberystwyth's North Beach between the north side of the Landing Stage and the extreme northern end of the Beach at Craig Glais between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.   BORTH:  Dogs are prohibited from the beach area from the slipway immediately north of the Lifeboat Station to a point opposite the Youth Hostel on the High Street between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive. Note that from the 1st April 2008 the restricted area was extended to include the beach area south of the slipway to the cliffs at the southern end of the beach to a point opposite premises known as Redroofs. The restriction changed on 1st April 2008 and came into force on 1st May 2008.  CLARACH:  Dogs are prohibited from the beach area which runs parallel with the breakwater between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.    LLANGRANNOG:  Dogs are prohibited from the beach area between Nant Hawen and Pen Rhip between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.    NEW QUAY:  Dogs are prohibited from the Harbour Beach between the Pier and Penpolion between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.   TRESAITH:  Dogs are prohibited from the southern beach area between the beach access point and Carreg-y-Ddafad between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.   The two beaches from which dogs are essentially prohibited between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive are those in the management of the National Trust at:   MWNT:  All of the beach between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.  PENBRYN:  All of the beach between the 1st May and 30th September inclusive.
